In my second edition I think I  have said something quite  similar. Myths are inevitable. We need them it seems. And the deconstruction itself can just seed new myths. But I think it's also important that they're challenged. Our biggest enemy as a species is our own certitude isn't it, and anything that keeps us doubting and re-thinking has to be a good thing. By the way there's a new 'Carroll Myth' blog at http://carrollmyth.wordpress.com.  Hopefully it will help keep the debate open in interesting and challenging ways.
